Just an hour after the UEFA Women's Cup final you could watch this match, and it looked much the same. A great Umeå show the first half with 3 goals in the first 20 minutes. Malin Moström and Marta impressed greatly and Linköping didn't have much to show for their 5 national team players. Except goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl, who did a couple of great saves. Slower pace in the second, but still a safe Umeå win.

KIF Örebro - Malmö FF 0-1 (0-1)
KIF Örebro:
Malmö FF: Caroline Jönsson - Malin Andersson, Denise Reddy, Therese Jönsson, Jenny Engwall - Frida Nordin, Formiga, Nilla Fischer, Emma Stålhammar (65 Linda Blom) - Asthildur Helgadottir (79 Mia Westerblad ), Therese Lundin
Goals: Emma Stålhammar 0-1 (28)
Attendance: 1,379
Two teams with strong defense against each other, which didn't give that many scoring opportunities. Emma Stålhammar scored a great goal from distance to give Malmö the upper hand. Örebro pushed forward in the second and dominated that half, but their forwards got stuck in Malmö's defense. "We were playing to complicated", Örebro coach Pia Sundhage explained, "trying to get the ball inside the box instead of just taking the long shot, so we didn't get to as many finishes as our advantage should have given us". Malmö's Anders Johansson praised his defense and satisfied that they managed to get a good hold on Kristine Lilly.

This was the last match for Örebro's americans Kristine Lilly, Kate Markgraf and Mary Frances Monroe. It's a 50/50 chance they'll come back after the break, says both Sundhage and Markgraf

QBIK's first Damallsvenskan points this season. They deserved the win after dominating most of the match in a cold and windy Örnsköldsvik.

glad you are back.
regarding the attendance: I am wondering what it is for the MEN's games, to compare what the women bring in. thanks. what do the MFF men get in attendance, for example?

The average attendance in the men's Allsvenskan was about 10,000 last season. Malmö FF, champions and the club with the largest crowds, had more than 20,000.

That is really a shocking difference.

Can you explain why the Malmö women went out on their own and became independent from the men's club? I am not clear on this, and it is now more confusing since you are saying that the MFF men have the most money, I assume.
