This was never a real competition and Rapide's coach Victor Crabbé before the match told UEFA.com, that "it is a match in which we hope to avoid looking ridiculous". I don't know if they managed that, but local press writes that they looked like "a bad 1st division side". Umeå scored their first three it exactly the same way, Marta coming up on the left side and and delivering the ball to Edlund inside the box. Marta scored her own two alone with the keeper after leaving the Belgian defense behind her and Hanna Ljungberg took care of a great through-ball from Maria Bergkvist. Veteran fullback Bergkvist played her last match for Umeå and was celebrated with the Player of the Match award.
With this result Umeå advances to the UEFA Women's Cup semifinal with a 10-0 aggregate. They will meet French side Olympique Lyonnaise, that defeated incumbent champions Arsenal 3-2.
