Four Damallsvenskan players nominated for FIFA Player of the Year award

Four Damallsvenskan players, Laura Kalmari (Djurgården/Älvsjö), Lotta Schelin (Kopparbergs/Göteborg), Marta (Umeå IK) and Malin Moström (Umeå IK), has been nominated for the FIFA Player of the Year award. This is the biggest number of players from a single league. The 20 nominees has been selected by members of FIFA's women's football and women's competitions' committees and other FIFA bodies. The winner will be decided by the national team coaches and captains.

Lotta Schelin comments her first time nomination to local Göteborgsposten with something like "I had no idea, but Oh my God, that's soo cool!" (Seriously, trying to translate expressions of joyous surprise is really hard)

In my humble opinion, Schelin has been the opposite of Kalmari-- she looks great with K/G, but she just hasn't done as much at the national level.

I would say Anne Mäkinen is my Finnish favourite.

And Lotta did a great match in Czech republic early this year and she's promoted from occational sub to mostly starter this year.
