Large drop in Damallsvenskan attendance worries clubs

The average attendance in Damallsvenskan this year has dropped 28 % from last year - from 1,110 to 808. Umeå takes the biggest drop - from last years average 3,271 the might reach over 2,000 this year. This is a huge set-back financially. So far Umeå has lost SEK 800,000 in ticket revenues and it might be more than SEK 1 million if the attendance figures doesn't change for the better. Umeå's manager Arnqvist finds several reasons for this; the cold and wet spring, the strange match scheduling with among other things an unmotivated long summer break and the lack of a championship series. i don't get this thing with "relegation half and another championship half". How would that create a championship series? Wouldn't it make more sense to take the top two teams and have them play a best of 5 or best of 3 matches, like th WNBA? That way, no one is "guaranteed" to win, as Umea just has. It seems that the way it is now, it's a bummer to watch the rest of the games.. just a battle for 2nd place, really.
