Umeå IK revealed earlier this week that their Brazilian midfielder Elaine has signed a renewed contract, reaching over the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Umeå's coach Andrée Jeglertz says that Elaine has developed into a world class player during her three year stay in Umeå and that she shows great loyalty to the club to sign a two year contract.

The third international player that has been offered a contract by newly promoted Umeå Södra FF has turned out to be Finland's midfielder Katri Nokso-Koivisto. Nokso-Koivisto has played for Bälinge the 2007 season and before that with Finnish top side FC United together with goalkeeper Minna Meriluoto, who has signed for Södra, and defender Petra Vaelma, who is thinking over the club's proposition.

Linköping's 24 year old forward Maria Aronsson will not be offered a new contract by the club, announced sport director Anders Mäki. Aronsson, who was Linköping's main goalscorer 2007 and has 11 caps for Sweden, has offers from other Damallsvenskan clubs. Mäki says it is hard to tell a player that has been loyal to the club for a long time that she is not needed anymore, but thinks that she might get better conditions to develop in another club.
But the club is still looking for new players. They have so far contracted 15 players for 2008 and want another 4. One of these could be 20 year old Lisa Nilsson from 1st division side Dalsjöfors. Nilsson scored 15 goals for the club 2007.
