Schelin stays in Göteborg
Damallsvenskan's leading goal-scorer Lotta Schelin has renewed her contract with Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC, keeping her with the club for one more year. "We're very happy. It's no secret that she means a lot for the team", says club chairman Peter Bronsman. The hiring of the club's new coach Torbjörn Nilsson influenced her decision, but she says she will review her position next year.

Lotta Schelin's and Victoria Svensson's decisions to stay with their clubs will force Linköping to go abroad to find the new top player they need, says Linköping's manager Anders Mäki. Neither Mäki or the club's head coach Daniel Pettersson wants to mention any names, but local newspaper Corren thinks it's a good guess that players from the Brazilian World Cup team are on the short-list and they are probably well updated on the Nordic player market. "We have taken initial contacts with a few players", admits Mäki, "but we haven't made any concrete proposals".

Relegated Qbik risk losing most of their players. The forward duo Rebecca Johnsson and Jennifer Meier has alredy signed with Djurgården. The late reinforcements Lauren MacIver and Michelle O'Brien will return home, Therese Björk and Amelie Rybeck., who joined from Jitex last year, will move back home to Göteborg, as will probably back-up keeper My Axelsson (to Eskilstuna). At the moment the club only have four players contracted for 2008, all teenagers. they will start negotiations with the rest of the players within short and goalkeeper Maria Yatrakis, one of their best players throughout the season, is their top priority. "We hope to be able to sign her on a six month artist contract [which gives large tax benefits]", says Freddy Lundh who is responsible for player negotiations.
