Sweden - USA: Hanna Ljungberg starts on the bench

Sweden's national team coach Thomas Dennerby announced the starting line-up already 24 hours before kick-off. Hanna Ljungberg, who hasn't played a full 90 minutes in ages, starts on the bench. Jessica Landström gets an unusual outside midfield position, subbing in for still slightly injured Josefine Öqvist, and in defense Dennerby starts with the Linköping duo Sara Larsson and Lotta Rohlin. Dennerby explained that if the choice between players is really close, as it is in Sweden's defense, he does take in account if some players knows each other and work together really well.

Sweden's starting eleven:
Hedvig Lindahl - Frida Östberg, Sara Larsson, Charlotte Rohlin, Sara Thunebro - Nilla Fischer - Jessica Landström, Caroline Seger, Therese Sjögran - Lotta Schelin, Victoria Svensson.

In an interview with SVT, Pia Sundhage says that managing USA is like eating the cake and still having it; you get to work with the best players in the world and you get to coach them like a club team. She feels a little sorry for Thomas Dennerby, who gets about as many weeks a year with his players as she gets months.
