Cristiane arrived at Linköping on March 6 and together with her Brazilian teammate Daniela she was greeted by just about everything Linköping has to offer in press and TV. They got their match jerseys and said the obligatory phrases about helping their new team to success. They both also stressed how good it is that they are two - they know each other well both off and on the football field.

In other player news, newcomers Kristianstad's third goalkeeper Emelie Karström will most probably leave the club. She has an offer from local 1st division side Vittsjö and has also played a couple of friendlies for Kristianstad's Finnish cooperation club Åland United, last season's number 4 in the Finnish premier.

And the American goalkeeper Laura Boyer, who was on trial with Kopparbergs/Göteborg earlier this year, seems to have agreed on a professional contract with former Damallsvenskan side Qbik. The three Americans Hope Siffert, Shana Chibidakis and Erin Morrison, who all tried out for Hammarby a couple of weeks ago, might also find a place in the 1st division club, but they need to figure out the finances first. After the relegation from Damallsvenskan, Qbik can't afford to offer them all the kind of deal Boyer will get.

There will by the way be at least three north american goalkeepers in the Swedish 1st division this season. Qbik's former goalie Maria Yatrakis has, as I've reported here earlier, signed with Jitex and Canadian former U21 player Jessica Hussey, who played Swedish 2nd divison last year, moves clubs to ex-Damallsvenskan Mallbacken. Jitex and Mallbacken are two of the favourites to win the race for promotion to Damallsvenskan this season.
