Match-Day 7: Saturday

Djurgården/Älvsjö - Själevad 1-0 (0-0)
Djurgården/Älvsjö (starting line-up): Maja Åström - Helén Fagerström, Jenny Curtsdotter, Jane Törnqvist, Sara Thunebro - Anna Hall, Elin Ekblom, Linda Fagerström - Sara Johansson, Laura Kalmari, Kristin Bengtsson
Själevad (starting line-up): Magda Åstrand - Johanna Engwall, Sanna Frostevall, Marina Aggio, Camilla Nyberg - Anja Steen, Terese Kapstad, Kicki Arnlöf (81 Redcarded), Johanna Ahrling - Jennie Dahlberg, Emma Jonsson
Goals: 1-0 Sara Johansson (89)
Attendance: 242
Djurgården/Älvsjö's Damallsvenskan scoring problems (6 goals in 5 matches before this) continues. In spite of a big advantage throughout the whole game they didn't manage to score until the last minutes. Själevad played a smart and well organized defense with a brilliant Magdalena Åstrand in goal. When Själevad midfielder Kicki Arnlöf recieved her second yellow in the 81st minute and had to leave the pitch, Djurgården intensified their pressure and finally managed to score. Själevad's coach Yngve Persson was very satisfied with his players; "They followed the tactical plans to 100 %", and thinks it looks good for future matches. Djurgården's goalscorer Sara Johansson said the win was very important for the team's selfconfidence, but they have to do better than this if they're going to win the next match, against Malmö FF.

On a side note, Jane Törnqvist started for Djurgården/Älvsjö, which, as I understand the German transfer rules, makes the rumoured transfer to Turbine Potsdam impossible this season.

In spite of KIF Örebro's lack of any real edge in their attacks, Malmö's coach Anders Johansson conceded that Örebro was the best team they've played so far. "We weren't pushed back like this even in the match against Umeå", he said.

Anna Nilsson scored 32 goals for QBIK last season in the 1st division. Not until the sixth match came her first Damallsvenskan goal and QBIK's first win. QBIK showed guts and determination when they managed to win the game in spite of Själevad's early goal from a penalty kick, and coach Dave Mosson mentioned especially midfielder Lisa Mellberg.

Mallbacken's decision to try a bold 4-3-3 against Sunnanå didn't work out at all the first half. The Mallbacken players semed marked by their row of defeats and played without confidence. In the second half Sunnanå seemed to relax too much and when Mallbacken's icelandic midfielder Erla Arnadóttir reduced to 1-2 the game turned around. Arnadóttir, new with the team, seems to finally have found her playmaker position.

Hammarby took an early lead from a corner kick, but AIK managed to stand up pretty well in the first half, showing a good passing play. In the second it wasn't enough and when Salina Olsson scored Hammarby's third goal on a bicycle kick, her 8th in 6 games, it was a done deal. Hammarby's coach En Perlskog is very satisfied with his team's performance so far, in 4th place going into the break.

TV match of the week: Umeå IK - Linköping FC 3-1 (3-1)

Just an hour after the UEFA Women's Cup final you could watch this match, and it looked much the same. A great Umeå show the first half with 3 goals in the first 20 minutes. Malin Moström and Marta impressed greatly and Linköping didn't have much to show for their 5 national team players. Except goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl, who did a couple of great saves. Slower pace in the second, but still a safe Umeå win.

Attendance: 1,379
Two teams with strong defense against each other, which didn't give that many scoring opportunities. Emma Stålhammar scored a great goal from distance to give Malmö the upper hand. Örebro pushed forward in the second and dominated that half, but their forwards got stuck in Malmö's defense. "We were playing to complicated", Örebro coach Pia Sundhage explained, "trying to get the ball inside the box instead of just taking the long shot, so we didn't get to as many finishes as our advantage should have given us". Malmö's Anders Johansson praised his defense and satisfied that they managed to get a good hold on Kristine Lilly.

This was the last match for Örebro's americans Kristine Lilly, Kate Markgraf and Mary Frances Monroe. It's a 50/50 chance they'll come back after the break, says both Sundhage and Markgraf

Djurgården/Älvsjö - Hammarby 1-1 (0-0)
Djurgården/Älvsjö: Jill Buchwald - Helén Fagerström, Jane Törnqvist, Malin Nykvist, Kristin Bengtsson -  Ann-Marie Norlin (45 Linda Lekander), Elin Ekblom (Anna Hall), Linda Fagerström -  Marijke Callebaut, Victoria Svensson (60 Venus James), Laura Kalmari.

Goals: Linda Fagerström 1-0 (73), Salina Olsson 1-1 (80)
Attendance: 242
For the first time in his life Hammarby coach En Perlskog fielded a defense line with five players, and sometimes it looked even more. Djurgården/Älvsjö owned the ball most of the match, but had problems penetrating Hammarby's defense. The set-up made for a pretty boring game, both goals came from set pieces, but it worked for Hammarby. Djurgården's play overall not looking good for the upcoming Potsdam game.

The meagre 242 crowd at the stadium cann partly be explained by the fact that Hammarby's and Djurgården's men played their derby at the same time in Stockholm.

Attendance: 724
Linköping opened strong, as so often before, and Örebro never came into the match in the first half. In the halftime break Örebro decided to go for a more direct type of play, but it took until the last 20 minutes before it began to pay off. Two long passes Kristine Lilly reduced the deficit to 1 goal and Örebro throwed everything into attack in extratime and they managed to force in the equalizer on a defenders mistake. Really good show by Lilly, who hasn't been that impressive until now, and a really disappointed Linköping again lost what seemed a safe lead. "We had complete control of the match, then the last five minutes we played like little girls."

Malmö started with a fast and creative attacking play and were 5 goals up already after 30 minutes. The creative center of their play was midfielders Therese Sjögran and Formiga, and when Sjögran left the field in halftime (a minor back injury), Malmö's attacking game slowed down.

QBIK played more agressive than usual and had several good opportunities to score in the first half, which was a pretty even affair. Göteborg's greater experience against the newly promoted QBIK payed off and in the end it was a safe win for the visitors. QBIK's coach was very disappointed in his team's inability to score from even very good opportunities.

TV match of the week: Sunnanå SK - Umeå IK 0-1 (0-0)
Sunnanå: Åsa Berglund - Sandra Berggren, Linnea Gjersvold, Hanna Marklund, Magdalena Esseryd - Anna Bodén, Carolina Marklund, Carina Holmberg, Lina Johansson - Madelaine Edlund, Tiffeny Milbrett

Attendance: 3,129
Tight defense from the home team made it hard for Umeå to get good scoring position. Of their about 25 shots at goal the vast majority was shot from safe outside the penalty area. In the beginning Sunnanå did surprisingly good contesting Umeå for posession of the midfield, but as the match went along Umeå dominated more and more and Madde Edlund and Tiffeny Milbrett became very lonely in the attack Hanna Marklund (player of the match) in Sunnanå's defense seemed untroubled by the injury she recieved in the Linköping match, but had to leave the pitch in the second half to avoid making the injury worse. Umeå was as a whole the much better side with a very offensive Moström and Marta, who was behind much of Umeå's attack but seldom came to any dangerous finishes.

In more than 20 matches between the clubs Malmö has only lost one. This time was no exception to the rule. Malmö opened strong already from start and should have decided the match in the first half. Now it became unnecessary exciting when Heidi Kackur reduced just befiore the half time break. Coach Anders Johansson was satisfied with Denise Reddy and Therese Jönssonin in the centre defense. "It's really important to keep players like Kackur and Lotta Schelin away from goal and they succeeded with that."

Sunnanå's coach "Kega" Isaksson had before the match stated that they had respect for Linköping, but that he was certain that they could pull off a much better game thn they did in their narrow defeat to KIF örebro the last match. And Tiffeny Milbrett had in no uncertain terms told the team that everyone was entitled to the occational bad day, but not fighting was not accepted. In the beginning of the Linköping match you couldn't tell if the pep talk had worked. Linköping opened strong and had 4 corners in the first five minutes. Maria Karlsson scored on a Josefine Öqvist pass and Josefine healed in a goal of her own. Sunnanå's Carina Holmberg kept them in the match with a volley from an unsuccessfull Linköping clearing attempt, but Linköping still looked like the much better team. But in the second half Linköping began to be pressured by the physically stronger Sunnanå, with Tiffeny Milbrett moved down to the midfield, and their 4-3-3 began to look more like 4-4-2. Sunnanå managed to capitalize on their playing advantage to equalise and finally score the winning goal - a ball intercepted by Tiffeny Milbrett, who made an opening pass to Madelaine Edlund who didn't make any mistakes one on one with Hedvig Lindahl. Sunnanå's captain Hanna Marklund had to leave the pitch by the end of the game with a bleedning thigh, but was still happy and convinced she'll be playing again this weekend.

"We were standing still a bit too much in the first half", Umeå coach Andrée Jeglertz excused himself after the 7-0 win, "but we had a good match and did some good looking goals". Even if there are more competetive teams in Damallsvenskan this year, there is still a big difference between Umeå and a newcomer like AIK. Things are beginning to look dire for AIK, but coach Christer Söderberg says that they were never relying on getting points from the upper half teams they've played so far.

With three attackers absent (Johansson, Svensson and James) Djurgården/Älvsjö had big problems finding their way through Mallbacken's fighting defense. A long shot be midfielder Ekblom gave them the lead by the end of the first half and a penalty kick that Kalmari converted at the end of the second was probably less than expected by the Women's Cup finalists.

Hammarby - QBIK 3-2 (1-1)

Hammarby: Kattis Wicksell - Hanna Olsson, Jossan Christensen, Annelie Norén, Tanja Meidal - Elin Hären, Jennie Jonsson, Christina Forssell, Linda Forsberg - Salina Olsson (88 Lisa Arnell), Jessica Landström (45 Louise Fors).

Jenny Hallstensson's two equlizers almost gave QBIK their first Damallsvenskan point, against the run of the play, while Salina Olsson's hat trick in front of national team assistant coach Thomas Dennerby probably put her back in the running for a spot on the Euro squad.

Things for Själevad to be happy about, more than the point they managed to snatch from Kopparbergs/Göteborg, was Marina Aggio returning to the team and a, after two really shaky matches, yet again functioning defense. Which is more or less the same. The brasilian defender brings calmness and authority to the defense line, writes local columnist Pär Hägglund.

Kopparbergs/Göteborg were disappointed with yet another draw, the more since they had the upper hand and should have converted more of their opportunities.

A big relief seems to be the most common feeling with Umeå's players after the 1-0 win over Djurgården/Älvsjö. Hanna Ljungberg admits that they were very tense before the match, having lost 4 matches of 5 to Djurgården/Älvsjö last season, and it showed in the match where both sides played a restrained and defensive game. From Djurgården/Älvsjö the view is that a (goalless) draw would have been a result that better corresponded to the events on the field.

KIF Örebro was the better team, particularly in the midfield with Mary Frances Monroe and Marie Hammarström, and made good use of the set pieces. But Sunnanå is extremely dangerous up front and Tiffeny Milbrett is gold worth for the club.

A one-sided game, where almost all of the play was on Hammarby's half of the field. Hammarby's coach En Perlskog said that Malmö, against all predictions, seemes to have their best team in several years. Malmö showed a varied and efficient play with the cooperation between Therese Sjögran and Formiga as their main force. Players and coach alike were extremely pleased with both result and play and coach Anders Johansson mentioned particulary the defense line, reconstructed after national team players Sara Larsson and Karolina Westberg left the club last year.

A defensive, maybe overcautious, approach from both sides, that seemed more bent on not losing than on winning, made for a fairly uneventfull match. Towards the end of the game both sides tried to find more attacking opportunities and shortly before the end Mallabacken substitution Linda Wallin found the goal.

With a 1 degree temperature and snow in the air the conditions for a good game and a big crowd could have been better. KIF Örebro started best, scored from a set piece already after 4 minutes and dominated the midfield play with Mary Frances Monroe playing an essential role. Tiffeny Milbrett and Madeleine Edlund were dangerous in Sunnanå's attack, but Örebro's defense managed to contain them most of the time. Örebro's two first goals came off set pieces where Sunnanå's defense should have been better marking. In the second half Sunnanå started to play wider and getting crosses in behind Örebro's defense line. This worked out and when the game reached a 3-3, after a Tiffeny Milbrett hat trick draw in would not have been an unfair result. But Örebro's youngster Lisa Dahlqvist headed in the last goal from a corner kick.

Match-Day 3 - Saturday

TV match of the week: Djurgården/Älvsjö - Umeå IK 0-1 (0-0)
Djurgården/Älvsjö: Maja Åström - Helen Fagerström, Jane Törnqvist, Malin Nykvist, Sara Thunebro - Linda Fagerström, Ann-Marie Norlin, Anna Hall (65 Venus James), Kristin Bengtsson - Laura Kalmari, Sara Johansson
Umeå IK: Sofia Lundgren - Maria Bergkvist, Anna Paulson, Sanna Valkonen, Frida Östberg - Elaine (89 Karolina Westberg), Malin Moström, Anne Mäkinen - Marta, Hanna Ljungberg (82 Jessica Julin), Anna Sjöström
Goals: Malin Moström 1-0 (51, PK)
Yellow cards:
Attendance: 2,283
A tough and tight match, more exciting than entertaining, where Djurgården/Älvsjö came out defeated for the second game in a row, something that's never happened the club before. With Victoria Svensson still on the injury list Djurgården's attack was somewhat handicapped with a lone Sara Johansson running on long passes. On the other hand Umeå's attack had big problems dealing with Djurgården's defense, where Jane Törnqvist probably strengthened her chances for a national team spot a good deal. Umeå's winning goal came off a Malin Moström penalty kick, awarded after Sara Thunebro handballed a shot from Anne Mäkinen.

Linköping FC: Hedvig Lindahl - Sara Larsson, Charlotte Rohlin, Jenny Möller, Emma Claesson - Malin Gustavsson, Anna-Kaisa Rantanen, Lotta Runesson (85 Therese Andersson) - Ann Westermark (73 Karolina Kristensson), Maria Aronsson, Josefine Öqvist
Goals: Maria Aronsson 0-1 (8), Maria Aronsson 0-2 (18), Therese Sandström 1-2 (28)
Yellow cards:
Attendance: 265
AIK got a bad start, conceding two goals in the first 20 minutes, but managed to stop Linköping's offense after that with a more agressive and physical defense. But Linköping, with Maria Karlsson and Carolina Seger on the injury list, was never really threatened.

Själevads IK - Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC 1-1 (0-1)
Själevads IK:
Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC: Maria Edman - Camilla Schelin, Frida Höglund, Sofia Dammström, Marlene Sjöberg - Lisa Ek, Maria Karlsson, Jennie Svensson, Johanna Almgren - Lotta Schelin, Heidi Kackur
Goals: Lotta Schelin 0-1 (5), Therese Kapstad 1-1 (77)
Yellow cards:
Attendance: 637
Once again a direct free-kick from Therese Kapstad saved the day for Själevad. Själevad was much under pressure the first half and their defense, where brasilian Marina played the full match only 24 hours after she arrived in Sweden, had a lot of work keeping Göteborg's Lotta Schelin and Heidi Kackur from goal. Lotta Schelin was the big player of the match.

Match-Day 2 - Post game comments

"It's good to create opportunities, but you really need to score on them too", said a disappointed Pia Sundhage after a match where they completely out-played Kopparbergs/Göteborg in the second half, only to see Lisa Ek equalise for Göteborg with just seconds left. A local sports columnist questions if Kristine Lilly and the team has managed to adjust to each other. You can see that Lilly has good intentions, but it often don't work out.

"I'm hurting in the head and in a shoulder, but most of all inside here", says Själevad's goalkeeper Magdalena Åstrand and points to her heart. And Själevad was completely out-played by Hammarby, not getting more than one single scoring opportunity. "We need to put this behind us as quickly as possible. Hopefully the arrival of our brasilians Kelly and Marina next week will revitalise the team spirit."
Örnsköldsviks Allehanda: En smäll som tog

QBIK's defeat to Umeå was predictable, even if it was bigger than QBIK coach Dave Mosson would have wanted. But whatb really concerned him was the injuries to defender Ann-Sofie Halvarsson (broken leg and out for the rest of the season) and talented forward Rebecca Jonsson (hopefully just a twisted knee).
Värmlands Folkblad: Benbrott i Umeå

Also the other Värmland team, Mallbacken, took a severe beating in the weekend. Malmö played very controlled and didn't give Mallbacken many opportunities to create anything. Mallbacken's 15 year old Sandra Andersson made her Damallsvenskan debut when there was 10 minutes left. "I think I did all right. I'm only 15 and these are some of the best players in the country."
Värmlands Folkblad: Mallbacken chanslöst mot Malmö

The Umeå - QBIK match was also Umeå's celebration of 20 years in women's football. The match could have been "another day on the job", but Umeå's players did one of their best matches in a long time. The Elaine - Moström - Mäkinen midfield impressed most on local sports columnist Niklas Westman.

Umeå IK celebrated their 20 years in women's football with birthday cake enough for every spectator. They had a party on the field too. QBIK's coach Dave Mosson said he hadn't expected anything but a defeat to Umeå, "They are better than us on every position", but his team did not have a good day. Two players, Ann-Sofie Halvarsson and Rebecca Jonsson suffered injuries that will keep them out of play for a long time.

A much better Hammarby with a brilliant Salina Olsson didn't give Själevad any chances. A really good attacking play that, according to Hammarby coach En Perlskog, should have resulted in more first half goals than just one.

Match-Day 2 - Saturday

TV match of the week: Linköping FC - Djurgården/Älvsjö 2-1 (1-0)
Linköping FC: Hedvig Lindahl - Sara Larsson, Lotta Rohlin, Jenny Möller, Emma Claesson - Malin Gustafsson (60 Lotta Runesson), Anna-Kajsa Rantanten, Maria Aronsson - Ann Westermark (72 Karolin Kristenson), Josefine Öqvist (85 Therese Andersson), Maria Karlsson
Djurgården/Älvsjö: Maja Åström - Sara Thunebro, Therese Brogårde, Malin Nykvist, Helén Fagerström - Jane Törnqvist - Victoria Svensson (62 Anna Hall), Linda Fagerström - Sara Johansson (28 Venus James), Laura Kalmari (45 Elin Ekblom), Kristin Bengtsson
Goals: Maria Karlsson 1-0 (23), Victoria Svensson 1-1 (56), Lotta Rohlin 2-1 (79)
Yellow cards:
Attendance: 2,188
The team of the future (8 starters 25 years or younger) met the present champions (1 starter 25 or younger). Linköping seemed to follow a well thought match plan, using high pressure, attacking with a lot of players and a keep-it-simple approach. Not many teams would take such a bold stand against the champions. In the first half it worked fine. Linköping made good use of their fast forwards and Djurgården/Älvsjö had problems making use of Victoria Svensson in her position just behind the forward line. Linköping's Malin Gustafsson did a great job there. The first half goal, even if it as the other two came directly off a goalkeeper mistake, was a product of Linköping having three forwards inside the area, pressuring goalkeeper and defender. Djurgården, having lost their national team striker Sara Johansson to an early injury, made some thinking and changning in the half time. Victoria Svensson moved up front, replacing Laura Kalmari, and Elin Ekblom took Svensson's midfield place. Djurgården controlled more of the game in the second half and equalised on a little solo thing from Svensson. But she seemed to have stretched a thigh doing it and had to go off minutes later. Djurgården still dominated, but Linköping defended good and had dangerous counters. The winner was scored on a free-kick close to the penalty area after Josefine Öqvist (fast and dangerous most of the time) was brought down and a confused Djurgården defense failed to clear the ball.

KIF Örebro:
Kopparbergs/Göteborg: Maria Edman - Camilla Schelin, Frida Höglund, Sofie Dammström, Marlene Sjöberg - Lisa Ek, Jennie Svensson, Maria Karlsson, Sofia Palmqvist - Lotta Schelin, Heidi Kackur (80 Johanna Almgren)
Yellow cards:
Goals: Kristine Lilly 1-0 (57), Lisa Ek 1-1 (90)
Attendance: 1589
A rather even first half with a lot of missed chances, including KIF's Kristin Hammarström saving a Heidi Kackur penalty kick, turned into a second where Göteborg had to focus on their defending. KIF's Kristine Lilly grew better and better through the match and scored what could have been the match winner. But Lisa Ek came running on a long ball from Göteborg's defense and equalised in extra time. KIF Örebro's Pia Sundhage was very disappointed to get robbed of the victory, but thought the team should have been able to decide the match earlier. Göteborg's Martin Pringle said his side were under a lot of pressure in the second half, but looking to the whole match he had no reason to apologise for the draw.

Sunnanå's Tiffeny Milbrett left the match 8 minutes from time, goalless in spite of several good scoring opportunities. Still, she was Sunnanå's most valuable player in the match, being part of almost every attacking movement. Sunnanå dominated the match against the newly promoted AIK.

Match-Day 1 - Narrow Victory for Djurgården

Djurgården/Älvsjö - Sunnanå SK 2-1 (1-0)
Djurgården/Älvsjö: Maja Åström - Sara Thunebro, Therese Brogårde, Malin Nykvist, Linda Lekander - Victoria Svensson, Anna Hall (70 Jane Törnqvist), Linda Fagerström - Sara Johansson, Laura Kalmari, Venus James (63 Elin Ekblom)
Sunnanå SK: Åsa Berglund - Linnea Gjersvold, Carolina Marklund, Hanna Marklund, Sandra Berggren - Mirjam Marklund (82 Nora Jåfs), Carina Holmberg, Anna Bodén, Lina Johansson (78 Maggis Esseryd) - Madelaine Edlund, Tiffeny Milbrett
Goals: Sara Johansson1-0 (2), Tiffeny Milbrett 1-1 (65 PK), Linda Lekander 2-1 (75)
Yellow cards: Mirjam Marklund Sunnanå, Victoria Svensson Djurgården/Älvsjö,
Attendance: 522
Sunnanå started nervously while Djurgården/Älvsjö pushed forward from the start. They took advantage of a Sunnanå defense that had yet to find their positions and Sara Johansson scored on a long pass from Victoria Svensson in behind the defense line. Djurgården dominated but didn't get to any really dangerous finishes, while Sunnanå had to chase the ball a lot. Tiffeny Milbrett worked hard in Sunnanå's attack and was behind most of her side's opportunities. About 20 minutes into the second half Milbrett went down, maybe a little too easy, inside Djurgården's penalty area and was rewarded with a penalty. She took the penalty kick herself and it was 1-1. The rest of the game Sunnanå tried to defend their draw, but Linda Lekander scores on a direct corner kick. All in all, Djurgården/Älvsjö did what they had to do while Sunnanå should be content with their effort.

This match report is compiled from an online  play-by-play by Sunnanå's local paper Norra Västerbotten. You can read the complete PBP at their website:

A couple of pre-match stories:
Sunnanå coach Kenneth "Kega" Isaksson talks about having confidence in his players and about the difference between coaching men and women - Sunnanå is his first women's team. Isaksson says they will need both their strength as a team and top individual performances to make it against Djurgården/Älvsjö. If it works out, a win is not impossible.
NorraVästerbotten: Kega tror på sina tjejer

Expressen has an article on the good and bad of the influx of foreign players, and gets the usual answer. As long as it is world class players that come, it's nothing but good. They also asks Tiffeny Milbrett why she chose to play in Sweden: "I want to play in the best league there is", she says. And since the foldning of WUSA, that is in Sweden.

- "QBIK was much better than I anticipated", said Linköping coach Michael Bornehav after the match. In spite of what had been said before the match he started Josefine Öqvist since both Caroline Seger and Maria Karlsson were on the sick-list. Öqvist seemed really happy to play again and got one assist and one goal. QBIK coach Dave Mosson said they started a bit overcautious and Linköping got fairly easy goals. The fast QBIK forward Rebecca Jonsson impressed most for the home side.

Attendance: 2,117
Shaky start from Malmö with slow and passive defense. Umeå pressured from the first moment and exploited the empty area between Malmö's defense and medfield. But Umeå's early goals, a Hanna Ljungberg header and Sanna Valkonen's off a cornerkick, were more thank's to lack of communication and determination in Malmö's defense than any brilliant attack. After about 30 minutes Malmö finally started to push up and meet Umeå's attacks in the mid third of the pitch. Much more even play the rest of the match and Malmö deservedly equalized, a beautifull shot by Emma Stålhammar from the edge of the area and Denise Reddy's somewhat lucky shot from a Malin Andersson free kick.
Malmö's Nilla Fischer and Umeå's Elaine impressed but I expected much more from Umeå's Mäkinen.

Örebro had a nervous start, but after the first 10 minutes they dominated and should have closed the match much earlier than the last minute. Several missed opportunities by Östman and Kristine Lilly, who otherwise showed high class. AIK could count themselves fortunate that the defeat wasn't bigger. Goals: Maria Karlsson 1-0 (28)
Attendance: 512
Göteborg started well and deserved the lead, but in the second half Hammarby was the better side and goalkeeper Maria Edman was forced to several saves to keep the victory for Göteborg. Göteborg's midfielder Lisa Ek (former Hammarby player) comments that as long as they managed to play according to their tactics, short fast passes through the midfield with the wing backs supporting the attack, it worked fine. In the second half they didn't seem to have the energy to do that, which let Hammarby back in the game.
